This year I will...

A new year, a new me, a new you, a new world -or, so they say.

And, how can we start a new year, without some audacious commitments?

Because, apparently, one should commit to something better -and, what best time than the new year?

Well, I'd like to be more committed in my endeavours, that's for sure -take this blog, for example: last time I posted was...end of September.

Of course, I've been busy: busy with life, busy with work, busy trying to get another job...but, they're just excuses, right? Reasons to easily become mired in the vagaries of life.

I was talking to someone today about not a so dissimilar concept: "Someone," says I, "in life, one should always strive for something more. We go to work, be the cogs in the machine to keep it running, but what about pushing us, moving humanity, onwards? The machine cannot gain momentum if we do not move it. So, we must strive for something beyond work, be it little or big, that we're passionate about, so that we may instil this passion into the future."

Fine, the words weren't as flowery, but the essence was the same: in life, it is not enough to just be, to mantain the machine. We must also live, we must give more.

So, yet again and once more, I shall attempt to do exactly that: to stick to my commitments, to leave my mark upon humanity's soul, to add a bit of mine to it.

And, perhaps, if we all push that little extra, perhaps we're not as doomed as we make ourselves to be.

Your striving conniver,

Stefano Ronchi
